Dates are an important part of our lives, and it is recommended to keep going on dates after the first weeks of a relationship. It is important to find the time for a date even when the relationship has been going on for a long time. After all, it is one way to maintain a happy and balanced relationship. For a good date, however, a special place is needed. Let us introduce the 3 top places to go for a date in Budapest.
1. Városliget Café & Restaurant – a place for a date in Budapest with a romantic dinner and a view to the Vajdahunyad Castle
One of the most popular ideas for a date is probably a romantic dinner. It is a perfect opportunity for a pleasant conversation and to get to know each other. Our restaurant, Városliget Café & Restaurant is a romantic restaurant in Budapest with a truly unique environment.
There is a beautiful view from our restaurant to the Vajdahunyad Castle and the lake of the City Park. The breath-taking view is further enhanced by the specialties of the restaurant and live music!
A romantic walk in the City Park is a great way to set the mood for the dinner or even as a closure after finishing your meal. There is a lot to see in the surroundings, including the Heroes’ Square, built at the end of the 19th century, or the Vajdahunyad Castle, built around the same time, the Ice Rink, which is most popular in winter, the Zoo of Budapest, the Capital Circus, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, the Museum of Fine Arts as well as the Academy of Arts.
2. Margaret Island (Margitsziget) – a place for a date in the nature, a kiss in the Kissing Room
If you only want to relax in a calm atmosphere, relatively far from the bustling streets, then head to Margaret Island where – if the weather allows – anyone can have a pleasant picnic or just enjoy calmness. The 2.5 kilometres long island is located between the two major parts of Budapest, on the River Danube, and it is a very popular place with locals.
If you decide to organise your date on the Margaret Island, you should visit the Water Tower and its top room, the so-called “Kissing Room”. Legend says many secret kisses were stolen in that room since it is so well-hidden. If you wish to impress your partner, tell them the story of the Kissing Room, and exchange a kiss in this lovely place!
3. Széchenyi Thermal Bath (Széchenyi fürdő) – a place for a date, with night bathing opportunity
The construction of the Széchenyi Thermal Bath was started in 1909 based on the plans of Czigler Győző, a university professor. It became the biggest bathing complex of Budapest and entire Europe. The construction work was started in 1909 under the supervision of Schmitter Jenő.
The bath has an area of 6220 square metres with 15 indoor pools and three outdoor pools. The bath boasts many medical and wellness services, as well as saunas and a gym. The place is regularly open until late night, which is combined with special events and programmes.
The building of Széchenyi Bath sets the mood for a little romance, but if you seek something truly special, try night bathing. A pleasant conversation with a glass of champagne in the hot water – unforgettable!
